Turning Point is designed to provide prevention education and testing; obtain information on knowledge at the beginning and at set time points later; and develop, test and evaluate interventions designed to change behaviors. Turning Point is a group-based intervention designed to change reduce HIV infection risk by helping participants recognize the benefits of specific HIV risk reduction behaviors. | The primary aim of Motherland, Inc's dramatherapy intervention is to create a culturally relevant and empowering prevention model for African-American and Latino youth and their families. The dramatherapy medium is promoted so as to engage youth in using their words, their issues and their peer influence issues to create an effective method for engaging and educating high risk youth on substance abuse prevention and HIV prevention awareness. | MotherLand, Inc's Dramatherapy outreach productions address lack of knowledge and lack of awareness of risk. "That's Why We are Here" is a peer-driven HIV prevention play that is an effective method of delivering HIV prevention information to a wide range of audiences. The content of the play heightens personal risk of HIV infection and increases general awareness and knowledge about the disease. Our plays are designed to inform and educate while at the same time entertain. | Counseling, Testing and Referral is a program sponsored by the City of Houston. Because of the high risk and wide spread of HIV/AIDS within the African American and Latino community, the City of Houston has contracted MotherLand, Inc. to take part in a rapid testing, counseling and referral program. This initiative is to help reduce the spread of this disease within the Harris, Montgomerry and Fort Bend counties. (More info on this coming soon...) |
